In February 2023, visitors from China were estimated at 55,029 arrivals even though China had not opened a flight route to Vietnam (before that, in January, it only reached a modest number of 15,875 passengers).

Generally, in the first two months of 2023, international visitors to our country reached 1,804.1 thousand arrivals, 36.6 times higher than the same period last year and nearly a quarter of the target number for the whole year of 2023, which is 8 million visitors. Statistics over the years show that the number of Chinese tourists accounts for about one-third of international visitors to Vietnam. Therefore, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam has just sent a document to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, proposing the early inclusion of Vietnam in the list of pilot countries for group tourism.

However, experts said that even if Chinese tourists come to Vietnam to travel again, the market cannot recover immediately.

Facing this situation, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and travel agencies have proposed many specific policies to attract international visitors, including the proposal to apply for electronic visas for foreign visitors, continue to simplify grant procedures and enhance technology application.
